Free flights and hotels for sailors from Scotland and Ireland

Wildwind sailing holidays is offering free supplemental flights and hotel accommodation during the school holidays for sailing enthusiasts from Ireland and Scotland. This is to mitigate the fact that usually there are no direct flights to Europe’s best sailing spot in Greece from these countries.

“If you want a high-quality sailing holiday, you don’t have a lot of choice,” explains Simon Morgan, founder of Wildwind, and former British National Champion. “Only a few locations are climatically suitable for spectacular dinghy and catamaran sailing, and of those even fewer are staffed with RYA-certified instructors and offering a varied choice of boats and equipment. Flights only leave from England, which is putting Scottish and Irish sailors at a disadvantage”.

Wildwind’s beach-based sailing centre is based in Vassiliki on the Greek island of Lefkas, where the weather already feels like summer in early May.

However, the British Airways charter flights offered by Wildwind only leave from London Gatwick. During the early 2019 school holidays in June and July, Wildwind therefore offers to pay for the extra flights and one night of hotel accommodation including a special rate at the Gatwick Hilton to everyone traveling from Scotland and Ireland on a Saturday, so that they can board for Greece at Gatwick airport on Sunday morning. Says Morgan: “You might think about it as a bonus: you start your holiday with a daytrip to London or a night out on the town, and we’ll pick up the tab”.

Over the past 30 years Wildwind Holidays sailing centre on the Greek island of Lefkas has achieved a reputation as one of the top sailing centres in the world.  With the widest fleet of dinghies and catamarans of any centre in Europe, unbeatable wind and weather conditions and top-class staff (many who compete at International level), Wildwind attracts sailors of all levels: from outright novices to Olympic hopefuls.

And, if you are likely to be travelling with anyone who does not share the same love of sailing, Wildwind also offers a unique programme of Yoga, Pilates and fun fitness classes for anyone who’d prefer to take their relaxation around the pool.

The offer for Scotland and Ireland is valid during the early school holiday weeks (June 30th to July 20th) and subject to a maximum of £200 per adult and £150 per child, on the basis of reimbursement.
